Volunteers

The Charleston Festival provides both visitors and volunteers with the rare opportunity to explore the private gardens and interiors of some of the finest residences in the American South. With more than 1,000 volunteer time-slots available, Historic Charleston Foundation relies on the generosity of our volunteers. In return, our volunteers receive various benefits to enjoy during The Charleston Festival and help support the Foundation in our mission-driven work.

One of my favorite activities of the year is the Spring Festival.  Volunteering has provided even more enjoyment for me than merely buying a ticket for the event.  It (volunteering) gives me a "behind the scenes" opportunity to see more homes and gardens, meet so many like-minded folks who love Charleston, and also meet people who have become lifelong friends.  In a way, I feel like an ambassador of Southern hospitality, the warm smile that I want people to associate with their memories of Charleston.
